The project improves visitor information and accessibility while raising the visibility of Menorca’s UNESCO World Heritage sites
The Consell Insular de Menorca, through the Talayotic Menorca Agency, has completed a comprehensive programme to renew signs and visitor information at archaeological sites across the island. The initiative provides clearer, up-to-date information for visitors while making it easier to identify the sites that form part of Talayotic Menorca, inscribed on the UNESCO World Heritage List.
The project was funded through a grant awarded by Spain’s Ministry of Culture and Sport as part of its 2024 programme supporting the conservation, protection and promotion of World Heritage sites. The total investment amounted to €23,771.59.
The works have included the replacement and updating of information and regulatory panels at the different archaeological sites, improvements to directional signs along the island’s roads, and the installation of new plaques marking the sites’ inclusion on the UNESCO World Heritage List.
The new information panels combine clear, accessible text with maps, images and other visual resources to help visitors follow the different routes and get a better understanding of each site. They also provide practical guidance on responsible behaviour, encouraging visitors to enjoy the archaeological heritage while helping to protect it.
Road signs directing visitors to the different archaeological sites and areas that make up Talayotic Menorca have also been updated and expanded. The improvements make the sites easier to find and create a more consistent approach to visitor information across the island.
The initiative is designed to make Menorca’s archaeological heritage easier to discover and understand, while improving the overall visitor experience. It also gives the World Heritage sites a more consistent visual identity and helps raise awareness of their cultural and historical significance.
The new signs and information panels have been installed at the following sites:

- Poblat de Torre d'en Galmés.
- Poblat de Torralba d'en Salort.
- Poblat de Talatí de Dalt.
- Necròpolis de Cales Coves.
- Monument de Na Comerma de Sa Garita.
- Poblat de Son Catlar.
- Poblat de Trepucó.
- Cova des Coloms.
- Poblat de Sant Agustí.
- Poblat de Torrellafuda.
- Poblat de Son Mercer de Baix.
- Navetes de Rafal Rubí.
- Poblat de Torretrencada.
- Cornia Nou.
- Talaiot de Torelló.
- So na Caçana.
- Poblat de Torrellisar.
- Sepulcre de Roques Llises.
- Sala hipòstila Galliner de Madona.
- Torreta de Tramuntana.
“This initiative is another step forward in showcasing the value of Talayotic Menorca and helping both residents and visitors discover and better understand its archaeological heritage. The new signs and visitor information provide a more complete experience while increasing awareness of a heritage that belongs to the whole island and forms part of the UNESCO World Heritage List,” said Joan Pons Torres, Councillor for Culture, Education, Youth, Sport and Heritage.
The completion of the project reinforces the Consell Insular de Menorca’s commitment to the conservation, protection and promotion of the island’s archaeological heritage. Through the Talayotic Menorca Agency, work will continue to ensure that these sites have the resources and infrastructure needed to welcome visitors, share their cultural significance and ensure their long-term preservation.
